We finally left Tarawa this afternoon at about 1pm. The weather is
mostly clear with high, puffy clouds and the wind is about 10-12k from
the Northeast. Our destination is the island of Butaritari with is an
atoll about 110nm North of Tarawa. We expect to arrive sometime
tomorrow morning and if the wind holds we might even be able to sail
there.
At 7:30pm we have passed Abiang Atoll and are sailing on a course of
351M at 6.5k. The wind is NE at about 10-12k and the seas are calm. We
have about 70nm to go to reach Butaritari and at this speed we will
arrive to early in the day. We are going to have to slow the boat down
by rolling up the genoa halfway. We would prefer to arrive after 9am
or even later as this will give better light for entering the lagoon.
