August 21

We sailed through the night in a light to moderate breeze of 10-12k. Until 1am we had just the main and staysail and were making only 3-4k in order to prevent our arrival from coming too early. By 1am the wind had moderated to 8-12k and we unrolled the genoa about 75% and continued at 5k.

By 7am we were in a series of rain squalls packing heavy rain and 15-20k wind. We arrived off Suvarov at about 8am and dropped sails and motored into the pass. By 9am we were coming through the pass in a break in the showers. By 9:30 we were anchored securely in time for the next rain squall during which we all hid below.

The atoll is highly reminiscent of the Tuomotus, of course all Atolls will be for us as the Tuomotus were our first Atolls. The water, however, seems even more clear then it was in the Tuomotus if that is even possible. Of course, we have not been in the water yet so we cannot say if that is true, but it seems that way from the surface. There are about 8 other boats here only one of whom we know, "Renegade" with Paul and Natalie aboard.
