June 18

This morning we awoke and lo and behold the great wind of the last few days had died down completely. We stowed our gear and upped anchor at about 8:30am local time and headed back across the lagoon to the anchorage near the pass. The wind was out of the NE at 7-10k and we arrived at the anchorage at around 10:30. I promptly got the dinghy painter wrapped around the prop - big-time amateur mistake - and immediately went in to unsnarl it.

After bending the two halves of the dinghy painter together, Jonah and I (Jordan) went to shore in the dinghy to look for a new stick for Jonah, he being quite upset about having left his old stick ashore at the motu by the anchorage we had just left! After an hour of walking ashore we spied Pez Vela approaching the anchorage and went back out to the boat. We are getting Jonah some lunch now and then we'll be ready to go diving. We're not sure how long we will remain at Tahanea, but if the diving is good we may stay 2 or 3 or more days until we get bored with the pass here. After that we are off to Fakarava with a possible stop at Faaite on the way.
